This course delves into the fundamentals of building green, including the reduction of energy use.

Learning Objectives:

  •  Learn the basic elements of green construction and building operations

  • Understand the role of trades on green job sites

  • Learn how reducing building energy can reduce the effects of climate change

  • Understand energy-consuming building systems and strategies that can be used to reduce building energy use

Diana McCarthy-Bercury leads Earth Forward Group’s energy, workforce development, and climate resilience practice. She has broad technical expertise in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable building performance. She has advised on energy strategy, program design, and implementation for the private and public sector. Diana's an advocate for sustainability workforce development and education. Diana previously managed Connecticut energy efficiency fund workforce development programs for the region's largest energy provider, Eversource. She is a certified USGBC GPRO instructor, BPI Building Science Principles Instructor/Proctor and A Teacher Facilitator for the US Dept of Parks and Forest Project WET and Project Learning Tree environmental education trainings. Diana holds an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University.
